What do you mean by supervision?

When we talk about supervision which is sometimes referred to as "consultative support" we are referring to a form of support to mediators which lies outside of normal line management supervision.

Every mediator should have access to a supervisor, on average once per quarter in order to discuss aspects of mediation cases that they have undertaken.  The purpose of supervision is to provide a confidential forum in which the mediator can critically evaluate their work, receive feedback and comment from someone who is trained or qualified to offer this kind of support and to identify their ongoing training and development needs.

Supervision is an essential part of any mediators professional life and we recognise that many people will need to create this kind of an arrangement from scratch.  Please contact UK Mediation www.ukmediation.net or use the contact form on this site if you would like help in setting up your own supervision arrangements.
